# Ascension Core

Ascension cores are items used and crafted in the mystic forge to ascend masterwork weapons from their base power level to the next tier. They are made by combining ascension shards or by collecting them as rewards for completing Nightmare Crucible instances in Umbral Sands. For most cores, players can gain core shards by killing mini-bosses (such as red dragons, green dragons, and blue dragons). The only core that cannot be crafted thus far is the power level 7 ascension core, which can only be acquired by completing the Nightmare Crucible. Note: It is a known issue that the shards and recipe to create power level 7 ascension cores are in the game and the developers will be removing the recipe in the Rage of Kuldra update. While players can acquire the shards to make the power level 7 ascension cores through gold reward packs from the Lava Fields agility course, this is also a known issue as, once patched out, may corrupt player saves.
